o Detailed Explanation: Knowing the importance of our gathering in
National Convention from September 15th through September 20th each year,the Officials of the Moorish Science Temple of America have designated that these two annual assessments be used to defray convention expense.
The Annual tx will be used by the Heads of Temple,
on or before September 1st annually. Delinquent and/or late remittance will not be tolerated due to their negative effect on covering our national Convention expenses. Procedures:
Payment is made to the temples’
Secretary by Member. The Secretary will make an appropriate entry on the Members’ dues card in the columns designated for Annual tax payments. The Annual Tax will be remitted to the collecting temples’ bank account to be used by the temples’ Heads to defray convention expenses. Travel Expense , etc.

Detailed Explanation: Noble Drew Ali put in place various methods by which the heads
of each temple could support the temple. In General Laws (dated Tuesday, October 17, 1928)
he stated that membership dues go to the support of the collecting temple and to support
of its domestic work. Each Member will be issued a dues card (cost .3.00). Membership is
free here and all over the world, first months dues are paid. The new Member’s initial dues

Detailed Explanation
This tax was implemented with the concurrence of the Supreme Grand Council during our
first (1st) convention in October 1928, due to the fact that operation expenses which were
taken care of with funds received from the manufacturing department were found to be a
burden on that department. Hence, the tax was necessary. Procedure: A Per Captia Tax
Card must be issued to each member (including Officers) and will be punched according to
the Members contribution. The treasure will send these funds to Home Office. The Officer
in charge of each Temple will send a report each month to the Supreme Secretary/Treasurer
of the Supreme Grand Council. The Supreme Secretary/Treasurer or designated officer will
remit the Per Captia Tax fund to the bank and submit a report to the Supreme Grand Sheik.
o Amount: Based on Members ability
o Payment frequency: Monthly or less according to the ability to subscribe.
o Who must subscribe? Any Member who is working and especially if he or
she has money in the bank.
o Detailed Explanation: During the 1st Convention in October 1928, Noble
Drew Ali specifically addressed his need for this fund by stating in part that
this fund is used to finance the movement. In addition, In Act 2 of our
Additional Laws (Questionnaire for Moorish Americans) he emphasized the
importance of remitting these funds to him by stating “It takes Finance to
uplift a nation”.) Accordingly, we must help our Prophet in his great uplifting
work by subscribing to this fund. Procedures: Members’ Uplifting Fund
Books are issued by the Home Office. The temples’ Secretary will accept
funds and make the required entry into the Members’ Uplifting Fund Book.
All temples must send these funds and a report to the Home Office. The report must itemize the names of contributors to the Uplifting fund and the
amount of the contribution.

o Detailed Explanation: As stated previously our Prophet Noble Drew Ali,
has provide each temple with various means of supporting itself. In the
General Laws (dated October 17, 1928) our Prophet stated that the Heads of
each temple are authorized to make this collection and then use it to support
the temple and its domestic work, Temples that have favorable public
collections have effective membership committees, visitors at every public
meeting and members who are effective public speakers who keep the prophet and his words “Up front.” Procedure: This collection is made by an
Adept after the Grand Sheik or his designee has read the Laws and made a
call for new Members. The Funds for this collection, which is made in
conjunction with the temple’s sick collection, must be kept separate,
counted separately and reported separately to the Secretary and Moors
present. Secretary will accept funds form collector and make the appropriate
entry on the meeting report. The treasure or designated Officer will remit
the funds to the temples bank account

o Detailed Explanation: As a Religious Corporation, our Prophet made it
possible to assist Members who find themselves in need of:
Food, due to an inability to work Medication and an inability to pay for it
Transportation funds to visit doctor
Each temple must have a sick committee, chaired by an Adept. This chairman can be
contacted by temple Members or committee Members to facilitate the disbursement of
funds in compliance with a procedure established by the temple head and approved by the
Home Office. Procedures: are same as Public collection.
o Amount .25₵ to $1.50 per week
o Who pays? All Members, Officers included
Detailed Explanation: Noble Drew Ali put in place a procedure by which every temple
would have finance available to use in emergency situations. No other finance (funds) are
to be used by the heads of temples in emergency situations. The fun will be sufficient for
any emergency because if you are faithful Mors, it will increase to over a 10 thousand ($10,000)
dollars. The Supreme Grand Sheik will define an emergency act.
Procedure: An emergency fund card must be issued to each Member Officers included, and
will be punched according to the Member’s contribution. The Treasure or designated
Officer will deposit the funds to the temple’s bank account.
